Our current Principal Dentist is Dr Stephen Hendry who was delighted to take over the reins in 2018. Stephen is supported by a team of experienced nurses and receptionists who are all fully registered professionals with the General Dental Council.

Meet the Team

Dr Stephen Hendry
Stephen qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2001 with the Hunterian Medal for Prosthodontics and has been committed to a career in general practice ever since. He moved from Edinburgh to Northern Ireland in 2009 and took over Victoria Dental Care in 2018.
His manner is typically both calm and patient and he is always keen to listen to his patients concerns. He loves helping his patients improve their smiles and is experienced with invisible/cosmetic braces, whitening, advanced crowns/bridges and dental implants.
He has completed a postgraduate diploma in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics and is an Associate Fellow of the College of General Dentistry that demonstrates he upholds the highest standards in dentistry, with the interests of patients at heart. He holds Certificates in Implant Dentistry and has a passion for Digital Smile Design ….real 21st century dentistry.
He is happy to take time to discuss your options if there’s something you’ve always wondered about. He lives in Lisburn with his wife and young family, which keeps him pretty occupied but loves to make time for tennis and football.
Amy qualified from Newcastle University in 2009, she returned to Northern Ireland for her vocational training and worked in general practice in Belfast for 7 years. She also worked in the Community Dental Service for 6 years before joining Victoria Dental Care in January 2019.
Amy has gained a wide range of experience in all areas of dentistry and has a particular interest in helping anxious patients. She will reassure and clearly explain the options for your dental treatment and enjoys being able to restore patients back to full dental health. She also has a keen interest in advanced aesthetic dentistry, preventative dentistry, patient education and restorative dentistry. Amy has a strong commitment to progressing her professional development keeping up to date with advances in dentistry.
She is a facial aesthetics practitioner with training in the use of anti-wrinkle injections and fillers.
In her spare time Amy enjoys spending time with her young family.

Dr Amy Stewart

Diane Shannon
Diane graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2001 with a BSc degree in Anatomy, and in 2003 with her BDS degree with Honours.
After graduation Diane initially worked in general practices in Northern Ireland for three years and then spent a further three years working in the Oral Surgery and Orthodontic departments of training hospitals in Northern Ireland and Scotland. She gained her MFDS postgraduate qualification through the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007.
More recently Diane worked in general practice in Larne for twelve years before joining Victoria Road Dental Care in February 2023. Diane enjoys all aspects of dentistry and continues to keep up-to-date with the most recent developments in dentistry by regularly attending post graduate dental courses. She likes to take time to build a rapport with her patients to create a friendly and relaxed environment for treatment.
Originally from Enniskillen Diane now lives outside Larne with her husband and young son.
Andrew studied Dentistry at Queens University, Belfast, and graduated in 2010 with a distinction in practice of dentistry. Following Vocational Training he went on to gain his Membership of Joint Dental Faculties with the Royal College of Surgeons (England). He then went on to work for three years as an NHS associate dentist at a family practice in Moira, County Armagh, gaining a broad range of experience in general dentistry.
In 2014 he commissioned into the Army Dental Corps and spent his first few years serving as a Dental Officer in Germany where he had the opportunity to lead his dental team on several overseas exercises including Canada and Romania. In 2018 he served as the Senior Dental Officer for Kinloss and Fort George Barracks in Scotland.
Andrew has a special interest in oral surgery and is particularly keen in making sure dentistry is as comfortable as possible. He believes strongly in the benefits of preventative dentistry ensuring treatments are fully explained and understood. He has also trained in facial aesthetics and clear aligners (braces) and enjoys improving his patients’ smiles through his work.
Andrew grew up in Whitehead and went to school in Carrickfergus. Outside his dentistry career he enjoys hurling, golf and skiing. He is chairperson of Cairde Turas – an Irish language charity in East Belfast and is able to communicate to you during your appointment through English, Gaeilge or Deutsch. He is currently also learning sign language.
